The S-990 arm has a straight tube, but angled head, and exact mounting
dimensions of legacy Empire and Rek-O-Kut arms. It has precise tracking, anti-skating adjustment,
lower mass, and a damped cuing arm. The cuing has 3X the lift than old
Empire arms. It is a good replacement for many vintage arms as Rek-O-Kut Model 120 and
S-320, or Empire 990. Slight mounting
hole modification may be required. No need to ruin
the cosmetics of your original turntable base. The supplied mounting
base will normally cover the mounting
hole of most earlier arms.
It mounts directly onto an Audio Empire 598 mounting tube but is a tad smaller in diameter and not a problem. To make it perfect, a very thin shim can be used. Although the arm comes with its built-n armrest, you can use the Empire arm rest you will have to reorient it slightly. You can use a rat-tail fill to elongate it's two mounting holes and rotate it slightly counter-clockwise. (see mounting tips below) For some turntables, drilling new base mounting holes or filing out the old mounting hole may be necessary for installation.

Unlike vintage Rek-O-Kut arms, the S-320 MKII accepts
standard removable headshells to facilitate switching cartridges and styli,
precise tracking and anti-skating force adjustment, a damped cuing arm, and
lower mass. The S-320 MKII arm mounts at almost the exact point of the
original arm found on so many vintage Rek-O-Kut turntables, as the Model 120
and S-320. Slight mounting hole modification may be required. No need to ruin
the cosmetics of your original turntable base. It will cover the mounting hole
of most earlier Rek-O-Kut arms.
It mounts directly onto an Audio Empire 598 with no modifications, cutting,
etc. Just pop it in and it is ready to go. Mount cartridge towards rear of
headshell slots for optimum overhang. For other Empire turntable, some
drilling, etc., may be necessary for installation.

If building a new turntable playback system, you should consider the new Rek-O-Kut S-260 MKIII extra long arm. There are very few modern tonearms that actually have 16" transcription disc capacity. Few less that are true 12" (305 mm) in effective length. Those available else ware cost many times the price of the S-260 MKII. This extra length also has advantages for 12" LP records, in that there is much less tracking error. Unlike vintage Rek-O-Kut arms, the S-260 MKIII accepts standard removable headshells to facilitate switching cartridges and styli, precise tracking and anti-skating force adjustment, a damped cuing arm, and lower mass.
If used as a replacement of and earlier Rek-O-Kut Model 160 or S-260, it will cover the mounting hole of most. The S-260 MKIII arm mounts at almost the exact point of the original arm found on so many vintage Rek-O-Kut turntables. Slight mounting hole modification may be required.
It can be used with almost any new build turntable system, as an arm replacement, or upgrading of vintage Rek-O-Kut S-260 arms. This arm cannot be used on any of our T3378 or modified AT turntables.

male. Even the connectors are obsolete. So, it is difficult to
make one unless you can find this 25 cent part from 40 years ago.

These lead clips are made to fit 0.05 inch
cartridge pins. They are gold-flashed for improved conductivity, and come in a more convenient
to grasp length of 0.577 inches.
For added durability, the clip ends have a metal wrap-around strain relief. These clips are made for crimping with
appropriate crimpers, but leads can easily be soldered onto the clips.
We have tried The AMP HD 20 and Molex HTR 2262A and had good results. Pictured is a Garrard Lab A70 headshell whose damaged arm leads were replaced

Our tonearm wiring was originally OEM and
made for linear and radial tracking arms. Each lead is Teflon coated, consisting
of 12 strands of OFHC (Oxygen Free High Conductivity) copper wire. Total
gauge is 33 AWG. Each lead is 0.016 inch in diameter.
Colors
are Green, Red, Blue, and White, with a 2nd different
shade Green for the ground connection. The wire
can be twisted together for more convenient routing.
If
you want to upgrade the cartridge lead pins of a headshell or tonearm, these will do the job.
Most other clips are made to
fit 0.04 inch diameter cartridge pins, but most cartridge pins are actually made
at 0.05 inches. This results in much effort for insertion and you almost
always must resort to pliers.
Very
often the tracking force scale on the arms of these old record
changers get's rubbed off or is lost in restoration. The pictured arm was
greatly pitted and it was necessary to sand and refinish it completely.
The
self-adhesive scale labels must be trimmed to the black edge. They come in
pairs. So, you have one redundant in case you make a mistake. Simply
place the sticker such that the 7 gram indication is 3-11/16 inches (93mm) from
the front end of the arm, and press down. That is all there is to it.
